Learn about
being resilient with Dr. Taryn Marie
Dr. Taryn Marie is the epitome of a resilient person. She is
serving people to enhance resilience in leadership in life. Besides, she makes
people bring best in themselves; she is also an author of flourish or folds the
five principles in resilient people. She is a featured co-founder of resilient
element 75, and a great researcher. Dr. Taryn Marie addressed in detail her transformation journey like when does she feel it starts. According to her viewpoint,
she thinks that we are in most of the fundamental shift; we do not know where
our transformation journey starts. We are standing during the fundamental shift
as we are on the planet surrounded by a coronavirus. All of us might be
figuring out about this, we are from different backgrounds, different cultures,
and distinct races. Now, this might be the actual transformational journey for
all of us. She started to think about resilience while doing her post-doctoral
fellowship in neuropsychology. It is very tempting to see how people
recover from the brain or spinal cord injuries and how resilience helps them doing
so. Surprisingly, most of the people performed better than prognosis after
their treatment in rehabilitation centers. Although some are performing worst
also. Therefore, to provide people with authentic information, a detailed study
about those people was made. Like whether they are living in urban or rural
areas, or whether they have access to transportation. This helps to find out
about the factors that are affecting their rehabilitation experience. These
factors might be the age, the severity of their injury or the place of that
injury. Despite this, their style of living, if it is dependent or independent.
Most of the people want to get their independence back after this
rehabilitation time. This is when she starts to think about resilience and the
facts by which the people are facing challenges. The practices and challenges
that we experience in that time make us resilient (if we engage in those
practices). She also finds a variety of practices in her own life where she
faces many challenges making her more resilient. This is the time when she
finds out the power of resilience. Every dictionary has its definition of
resilience and its very own concept.
Practicing
concepts that make people more resilient:
Resilience is one of the tremendously important concept and
by practicing this; we can become even more resilient. Positive thinking and
gratitude towards others make us more resilient. As a society, people do not
know much about resilience and doing. For this purpose, data from thousands of
people were collected. The data collection includes people asking questions
about the challenge that they face in their lives and how do they overcome that
challenge. This qualitative study came up with five principles. The first one
is vulnerability, as it creates greater resilience. It allows us to engage with
other people by letting us know about the resources that might be helping
people. The second practice is productive perseverance, which is an exciting
interplay. Angela Duckworth has done
exciting research on grit. Grit and resilience are somehow the same. Grit is
halfway related to productive perseverance; it helps in maintaining the mission
part. In the case of landscapes where everything is continuously changing, the
environment, the conditions, resilience there plays an important part. As in
the case of the coronavirus, everything is continuously changing, the
entrepreneurs and the researchers have to keep an eye on the market and the
disruption occurring around as well. Therefore, this is something related to
productive perseverance.
What fears
we might accomplish?
People face a lot of trauma in their lives as in the case of
the coronavirus. Dr. Taryn Marie faced many
challenges by accomplishing goals and going through challenges, this makes her
even more resilient. The basic concept is that it is simple but it is not easy
to ask people for help. The relationship of asking for help is quite ambivalent
in the US that is why she loves to help people. We love to be helpers but
oftentimes do not request people to help. The theory is always different from practice
that is something she learned from life. It a blessing to ask people for help,
this is a sign of giving them importance and opportunity. This is the time
where we must take and give help to people near us to balance our needs. This
is the time where we can prove ourselves. Helping someone is not a burden it is
a blessing though. It allows people to help those who want to help. This will
balance the scale between people. People must have pondered on three L’s that
are love, light, and leaves. This is a sign of optimism towards people. A lot
of researchers talk about vulnerability as it is highly important. Most of the
people are living vulnerable lives. Most of the people do not accept the truth
and realities making ourselves biased. The only thing by which we can overcome
fear is shame bias. Telling the truth makes us overcome our fears. This will
help us to diagnose our fears and to make ourselves stay away from being
biased. At a time. Dr. Taryn Marie also hid her PTSD from folks because of her
place in global leadership development. She thinks that people do not love
her, like her or they will leave her after getting knowledge about this
diagnosis. Then to overcome it she started talking about these publically on
stages and other social places. This makes her closer to people, making her
relationship even deeper. This is something making her close to vulnerability
especially when she makes her outside person matches the inner one. The
gratitude and the generosity that she get from people is something amazing.
This is something truly incredible.
Closing-wrap
up:
This is the time when coronavirus has a holistic impact on
the minds of people. It is very important to get all of the factors we are
facing in this world crisis. Gratitude and generosity are highly essential at
this time. We can look at these challenges to find gratitude and share it with
other people. This makes people learn through our experiences and helps them to
cope up with the challenges in this time of crisis.
Finer
details:
Paranoia is the word we all believe in, which means that
everything that is happening is for us. All of the crises that are happening
are definitely in favor of humans. People are staying in quarantine making
themselves stay at home. This makes our planet stay away from the toxic
materials created by humans. This makes us understand each other even more.
This is not happening to us, this is happening to us. So think about the
resilience, recognize your power to face these challenges. This could also be a
sign of saving wildlife that Chinese people are using as their meals. So think
about the growth that you can have in this scenario and time of coronavirus.
Inference:
We are all unique in our ways so embrace the connectedness
and use it as your power. Knowing ourselves deeply and trusting our guts helps
us to go through these challenges. Appreciate your connectedness with others
and think about progressing the environment and taking care of all others out
there. This is all we need; this is what makes us more resilient towards this
challenge. Stay safe and believe whatever is happening is for you!
