Rock Music and Off Cuff with Rob Runkle of The Terminally Well

When was the last time you heard music from someone you could tell was actually happy? Is it really the rules and the fear of judgment that holds us back in expression and sometimes when we are listening?

Rob Runkle of The Terminally Well will tell you that when you let go of all of those inner assumptions about stereotypes placed on certain music and the labels on constrains of it you will appreciate the music itself. Rob says in the midst of the interview that he remembers his "hippie mom" introducing him to music and taking him to concerts where he begins to develop an appreciation for music. He has embraced the best of all music throughout time even the most "country" as some may call in his circle from likes of Johnny Cash.

Rob credits his deeper appreciation of music and exploring other genres to the greats that laid the foundation such as Marvin Gaye, who he said had one of the all-time greatest albums that featured the song "What's Goin' On?" and jazz musician John Coltrane. Influences like these helped him to further free his creativity. Rob has written everything and played everything for the first songs and lined up friends for live performances. He reminisces on 4 AM calls for the band's most popular single "Mighty Empires Fall" on how he generated new ideas and could feel a force pushing him into the flow. He described the entire timeline as magic from the beginning of making the song to video production and seeing fan reaction. "I have always approached life more philosophical and spiritual and still til the day it all feels magical for me what happened".
